Many of you will already know of the talented designer of skins Pompeja Rossini and her brand LaVie, but for those of you who don’t know about her, she arrived in Second Life on Valentine’s Day 2007 and set about making the residents of SL as beautiful as she could.

 

She initially heard about SL from a TV programme and so driven by curiosity she came to see what it was all about, liking what she saw, she went about exploring and making friends from all around the world.

 

Pompeja Rossini happened to meet a newbie in the fall 2007 who just so happened to have amazing knowledge of Photoshop. She loved his work and spent hours watching him. It was then she decided that it was something she wanted to try her hand at too.  Pompeja says “I started with clothing, my brand at the time was was Pomj . In 2008 Initially I made skin makeups for another skin designer and it was very exciting, and I made my own first skin in mid 2008”

 

Pompeja is makeup artist and beautician in RL so you can see the synergy with designing skins in SL. She used to work for theatres and now freelances.  She says her RL work doesn’t really help her much in SL, so although she has an eye for colour and details, SL skins are way to limited to do any big works of art on them. 

Pompeja designs both male and female skins and intends expanding on her business with the advent of Mesh onto the SL grid and she says she well specifically be using Maya.  She also plans on diversifying and extending her brand by going into business with a former partner of hers Naiman Broome of NAIMA (that newbie with all the photoshop knowledge.)

 

Pomeja’s first brand was called Damiani and was made up of her then partner KaoZ Koba and herself. They had a wide variety of clothes and skins.  As time went on skins became her main focus. These days she designs clothes  as a form of relaxation!!  She says it takes 3 to 4 month to make a skin and it gets boring and so to keep busy and keep the creative juices flowing she makes clothes.

Pompeja has without a doubt found her creative outlet in SecondLife and has made her brand LaVie Skins synonymous with daring and creativity.  Her richly detailed and highly defined designs bring life to the avatars who wear them. Some of her better known skins go by the names Hope, Andre, Savon, Massimo, Gabriel, Asia, Jolie and Aiyana.
