Moolto Member Spotlight: OPAL LEI

 “Love, Like Dim Sum”

For the first time in MOOLTO’s history, we are featuring an author.  Opal Lei recently published her book “Love, Like Dim Sum” under her real name Lea Tesoro and started her talk show called “Talk, Like Dim Sum.”

In the book, she talks about twelve of the lessons she learned about virtual relationships.  And, in the talk show, she interviews other residents about their own virtual relationships.

Opal joined Second Life in August 2006 and chose to immerse herself fully in virtual reality.  She describes her virtual life:

“I feel like I’ve lived several lifetimes in the past six years.  From the start, I learned as much as I could about content creation.  I learned to modify my shape even before I left Orientation Island. I built my home (through trial and error) during my first week.  LSL scripting came naturally to me because of my technical background, so I was coding complex scripts within a few months – games, gadgets, and even burning the Burning Life temple as my alt Treasure Box.

“I learned Gimp and art terminology when I started my mermaid business Mer Betta™.  In order to pose my avatar for the product pictures, I learned animations.  In order to market my products better, I trained with and later joined MODA as a runway model.  In order to create a TV ad for my store, I learned machinima.  When sculpts were introduced, I learned just enough of Blender to be dangerous.  Because I was focused on the book, I haven’t learned mesh yet.

“When I created tools for models, I started Ms.O.Lei-ny™ as a catch-all brand. When I was posting fashion photos on Flickr, I discovered stereoscopy and started creating 3D pictures.”

But it was not all work and no play.  Opal was involved in many relationships in SL and she examined each relationship after it ended.

Her insights on those relationships are documented in the book.

Surprisingly, this book about love has a dark beginning.  Opal explains:

“It was my way to pull out of my depression. I had thoughts of suicide. But somehow I remembered my ‘bucket list’ – the things I’m supposed to do before I die.  And writing a book is in that list. Unfortunately, my bucket list is as long as my ever-growing to-do list.  I’ll probably die of old age before I get through the entire list.”

In addtion to our PRAKA Team, I wanted an honorable mention to Morgana Nagorski. Although she is no longer our Curator for PRAKA. She was our Curator for
almost a year and a huge help to our Gallery's success. Without Unity we stand
divided!  I am truly blessed!

Nothing that was said here is news to me. I have the priviledge of working with Poulet, and right at the beginning my impression was the same. Poulet is generous: being at her side is akin to the discovery of a clearing in thick woods. Those nice words above are no more than what she deserves. Thanks, Poulet.

This is an awesome article about PurpleMoonCreations. She put it beautifully into words how one feels when they first enter the PurpleMoon Store. Poulet is an awesome woman that is unique in the ability to do many things among them being a designer of wonderfully awesome designs that can turn anyone into a Princess. Thank you for all you do for us Poulet.

Totally Deserving of this spotlight. As a growing model in my pre, ature months Topaz encourage me to exude style with complete professionalism, fashion knowledge, and nact for the business she taught me that being yourself is the most important thing in fashion. I remmeber meeting her for the first time. Which was when I tried out for Maniera Men of Tyle and happen to meet her at the site in which I was to drop my notecard off. She was chic with a touch of Avante Guarde and she was completely down to earth. Topaz and I became great friends and have supported each other throughout our careers on our many endeavours. I thank you so much Topaz for being simply You.
